I don’t want you thinking that there is anything seriously wrong with you if you have some rolls on your back. There are many individuals that are vulnerable to it; especially as you age.

What Not To Do If You Want To Lose Back Fat

Before we dive in, I want to make one thing very clear. There is no way to spot reduce back fat unless you are willing to consider cosmetic surgery. And once again, let me be clear; that is something that I highly recommend you DO NOT do. Cosmetic surgery is almost never the answer. If you want to lose back fat, you need to learn how to burn fat everywhere. You need to learn how to turn your body into a fat burning furnace and the back fat will melt away.

Along with turning your body into a fat burning machine, you will also want to incorporate muscle building exercises into your regiment. That will help to tone your back as the fat starts to disappear.

What You Need To Do To Lose Back Fat

Just like other parts of your body that are more plump than you would like them to be, back fat is nothing more than the accumulation of excess fat (adipose tissue). How is it that our bodies accumulate excess fat? Any combination of genetics, poor diet and lack of exercise or physical activity can contribute.  Statistically, men tend to have more of a problem accumulating fat in the mid section and back regions where as woman tend to have fat accumulation problems in the things and butt.

If you want to stop wearing baggy clothing, there are several things you need to do to lose that back fat. The first thing you need to do is accept the reality that your back is usually one of the last places your body loses fat. As with everything, you need to put a positive mental spin on this. Once your body does start to burn that fat off your back, that just means you have already done a great job of burning fat from other areas where it had accumulated.

Where Your Focus Needs To Be

Do not make the mistake of only focusing on back exercises. If you do that, you might have success at developing back muscles but they will just end up developing underneath the back fat.  Muscle building exercises are great but you also need to place a great deal of focus on lowering your overall body fat. With time, you will have a smooth and toned back with no excess fat.

Lean muscle is an important part of the equation because as I have talked about before, it takes more energy for your body to maintain muscle than it does fat. More lean muscle means a faster and more efficient calorie-burning metabolism. All which lead to faster fat loss.

As far as nutrition is concerned, you need to make sure that this is your focal point. The worst thing that you can do in your efforts to burn fat is to starve yourself.  Low calorie, restrictive diets can do more harm than good in most cases. When your body is not getting enough calories or the right nutrients, it thinks that it must protect itself from starvation and your metabolism will drastically slow down. This will just about kill all your fat loss efforts.
