What time frame are you working with:

If you think that you are going to drop 20 pounds in a week and keep it off, think again. Having realistic expectations is incredibly important if you want to have maintainable long term success. A 1/2 to 2 pounds per week is a healthy pace to lose weight; so keep that in mind when formulating your goals. Any diet that claims they can help you drop massive weight in a very short period of time might work for just that; a very short period of time. But, I also realize we all have different things going on in our lives (weddings, special occasions, etc…) and the need to lose weight quickly might be an absolutely necessity for you and I can appreciate that. So, if that is the case, FAT LOSS 4 IDIOTS is the only program I stand behind that can help you achieve that faster than average weight loss that you might be looking for.

Do you work best alone or do you require group or one-on-one counseling and help:

In some cases, you are going to have to change lifelong habits and that is not easy. Do you have the mental strength and will power to do it alone or are you more likely to succeed if you work to complete this journey with others trying to accomplish the same thing.

Does the diet offer on or off-line support:

It is very important to have some sort of support when embarking on a new way of life.  I like to use my husband as an "accountability partner".  I state what I plan to do, and keep him posted on my progress.  Far too often we allow ourselves to slack or cheat if no one knows of our goals, since the consequences are determined by you.  For some reason, people do not want to admit failure to the people that they care about, so that is extra motivation to stay on track.  If you don't have someone close to you that you would like to share this information with, many programs offer help counselors that will provide you with guidance and keep track of your progress.  This will also help you recognize if you need to tweak what you are doing in order to get the BEST results for you.

What kind of success has the diet yielded for others and have they been able to keep the weight off:

Knowing that it is possible and not just a gimmick is a BIG part of success too.  I would consider this the belief factor.  In order to see results with any solid diet, you need to have faith that it will work because it is going to take time. So, actually knowing someone that has had success can keep you focused on the future.  It also helps to put you in the mindset of "if they can do it, I can do it!"  I would suggest asking them if you can use them if you have any questions.  Not that your experience will be exactly like theirs, but chances are they have experienced some of the feelings, physical changes and mental changes that you will be going through while on your journey to a healthier you!
