6- Start BIG and repeat often
This is one of my favorite weight loss tips and for many, one of the hardest to implement and follow. Most people I speak with and help, have little to no breakfast each morning. They then proceed to consume a mediocre lunch and when evening comes, they devour a monster sized dinner. Let's turn this upside down and multiply it. I am going to spend a little more time on this because it is so important. Skipping breakfast actually slows your metabolism down. Think about it; you are giving your body the least amount of fuel when you are typically expending the most amount of energy and calories. If you are not in the habit of eating first thing in the morning, start small and build your way up to a good meal each and every morning. Breakfast should be your biggest meal, followed by lunch, then dinner, with a few small meals/snacks in between. Women should have a target of 5 meals per day and men should have a target of 6. Some of the benefits from eating frequently are; a higher metabolic rate, better absorption of vitamins and nutrients, much fewer cravings, and more stable and steady blood sugar and insulin levels.

7- I'm going to "Pump you Up"
For true, sustained weight loss, this tip can make all the difference. Physical activity is a must! Dieting alone will not provide you with the results you are looking for in the long term. As your body builds muscle, this causes an increase in your metabolic rate. That alone will cause your body to burn more calories. Get creative and have fun with it. There are a lot of places besides the gym where you can get a great workout.

8- I said "Sit Down!"
Here is a great trick for all you compulsive eaters. I personally had one of my good friends implement this in her household and it helped her and her husband’s weight loss efforts tremendously. Make it a rule in your household that all eating will be done sitting down and at either the dining room table or kitchen table. This will help eliminate almost all mindless and needless eating and snacking.

9- Say "cheese"
This little trick works wonders. This one is a requirement for every single person I work with. Grab that camera and take a full blown, full color picture of yourself in nothing but trunks for men or a bathing suit for women. Have it printed; the bigger the better and put that piece of art on either your fridge or bathroom mirror. If you are unhappy with the way you look (and I don't care if it is because you are looking to gain or lose weight), that picture will have a tremendous impact on your efforts and desire to make change happen.

10- SMILE
Last but certainly not least... have FUN! True health and fitness is a life long journey and with that being said, your journey will come to a very quick and abrupt end if you are not having fun while you are on it. Remember; we are not talking about something that has a set start and end date. Take the time to learn the "why's" behind everything you are doing. From the fuel you put in your mouth to the lunges you perform in the gym. When you understand the "why's", you will be able to spice things up and constantly change them around but still stay on track.
